Professor of Journalism and presently the Course Director of Indian Languages (Hindi) Journalism programme in IIMC, Dr. Anand K Pradhan (b 28th Jan' 1968) is with the Institute since May, 2003. He has a master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from prestigious Benaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi (UP). Later, he completed his Ph.D in Journalism from the BHU and his research topic was “Print Media and terrorism (in special reference to Punjab problem)”.

Before joining IIMC faculty as Assistant Professor (Hindi Journalism) in 2003, he worked with the News Services Division (NSD) of ALL INDIA RADIO as Asstt. News Editor. He briefly taught as Senior Lecturer at Centre for Media Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprashtha University, Delhi between Aug. to Nov. 2007.

He returned in IIMC as Associate Professor of Feature Communication in Nov.'2007. He was the Course Director of Hindi Journalism programme in the Institute from 2008-2013. He also headed the IIMC’s flagship programme for mid-career journalists from Developing Countries (sponsored by the MEA, Govt. of India), Diploma in Development Journalism from August, 2016 to November, 2017 and again from Dec,2019 to Dec,2020. In between, he briefly headed the IIS Training and Dept of RTV in 2014.

He edited the IIMC’s Hindi peer-reviewed journal “Sanchar Madhyam” for few years.

He has attended the SUSI (Study of the United States Institutes) programme in Journalism at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio (US) in 2013 and participated and presented papers in numbers of international and national conferences in India and abroad.  

He is regularly contributing opinion articles, news analysis and feature stories to leading national dailies and other magazines.
