Dr. Mrinal Chatterjee did his Masters in English and Public Administration from Utkal University. He did his Masters in JMC from G.J. University, Hisar.

Beginning his career as journalist with SAMBAD, A leading Oriya daily, he worked for one and a half decade as practsing journalist. Before he joined IIMC, Dhenkanla in 1999, he was Edition-in-charge of SAMBAD North Orissa edition.
