Brief Profile

I have been educated at Delhi University and the Pennsylvania State University USA.  I have over 30 years experience in communications and media related fields.  I started my career as a journalist, writing on business and travel in India for a reputed international magazine.
I have teaching experience both in the USA and India. I have served as a faculty member at IIMC for the last two decades teaching in the areas of Development Communication, International Communication and social aspects of digital area.  I am currently engaged in writing about health communications in India.
I have authored and edited scholarly books on the television industry and digital media in India.  I have served as the editor of the IIMCs academic journal communicator from 2008-2020.
I have organised may training programs and workshops at IIMC in collaboration with partners such as the BBC World Service Trust, Commonwealth Broadcast Association, and others. As head of the Centre for Executive Education at IIMC, my responsibilities include training defence and government officials in various aspects of media and communications.

Experience
  • I have been a full time faculty member at IIMC for the last two decades, teaching courses in  Development communication, International Communication, social aspects of digital media as well as health communications. During this period I have headed the departments of Development Journalism, Publications, Radio and Television Broadcasting and currently the Centre for Executive Education.
  • I have served on the Doctoral Research Committees of the Media and Communications Schools of many Universities including IGNOU, Jamia Milia Islamia, Hyderabad Central University, Amity, GGSIPU and others.
  • I have been an invited speaker at many institutions of repute, both national as well as international. These include Pennsylvania State University, Sri Lanka Press Institue, Administrative Staff College, Wellington, National Audit and Accounts Academy, Tata Memorial Hospital, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and many others.
  • I have presented my research based papers at many conferences.
