Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (Marathi) was inaugurated on August 8, 2017 at Western Regional Centre of the IIMC in Amravati. There are engineering, medical and management colleges in central and western India, but there was a noticeable absence of an accredited media institute. To address this gap, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication established a regional centre in Amravati, situated in the serene surroundings provided by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
The PG Diploma in Marathi Journalism has a total of 30 seats and the course is designed to train aspiring journalists in line with current trends, covering the fundamental aspects of journalism, cyber journalism, and electronic journalism.
