The foundation of Urdu journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication was laid with the introduction of the diploma course in the year 2013. After initial successful experiments, it was converted into a Post Graduate Diploma course in the year 2017. Like other diploma courses, this is also a one year course. The main objective of the course is to train media professionals who can work according to the changing needs of technology-driven Urdu media. Some eminent journalists working in Urdu media are invited for guest lectures to create practical understanding of Urdu media industry. Students prepare laboratory journals for practical training. The current intake number in Urdu Journalism is 30, and the course is offered only at the New Delhi campus.
Objectives Of The Course
To provide a broad perspective on communication in India.
- To emphasize the role of journalists in promoting participation and participation through effective communication.
- To familiarize and equip them with a range of communication skills. To develop appropriate communication strategies.
- To expose them to new/evolving techniques of reporting/editing/production/distribution in view of emerging technologies. Govt.
